Ritchey Woods

Located at 10410 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038

The purpose of the Ritchey Woods Committee is to partner with the Fishers Parks Department to create and maintain display beds containing native plants for the education of the public and to attract wildlife to these areas for naturalist demonstrations. The committee also introduces native plants, shrubs and trees to less formal areas of the park.

History of Committee

In 2007-2008 we started a program of reintroducing native wildflowers into the Prairie Area and planted several native fruit trees in the orchard area.

Since then, planting areas near the entrance have been expanded and plants have been labeled. Other planting areas near the parking lot and the shelter have also been expanded. We continue adding native wildflowers into the prairie.

In 2010-11, the committee established a new butterfly garden on the east side of the shelter. More native shrubs and trees such as native hydrangeas, witch hazel, paw paws and bald cypress have been planted throughout the area.
