Purpose
To improve the well-being of older adults by providing easy-care houseplants for their environments, such as assisted care living. Houseplants offer opportunities for nurturing, responsibility, and connection to nature, which can improve mood, reduce stress, and promote feelings of purpose and accomplishment. By sharing houseplants, education and hands-on experiences, Master Gardeners help bring the therapeutic benefits of plants into senior living communities and individuals’ homes

History
The idea of this committee was first presented to the board at the August 2026, board meeting. In September, the board approved an initial budget and trial year.

Check out this video of our Master Gardener friends from UMN Extension in St Louis County. This is where the founding team initially got the idea!
