Purpose
The purpose of this program is to reach out to High School students in Hamilton County to assist in cultivating interest in exploring continued education and horticultural careers within our community.
History of Committee
This program began in 2006 when Debbie Fornefeld and Jeanette Daniels approached HSE and offered to provide master gardeners support to help in the greenhouse and classroom. In return, HSE allows HCMGA the use of a portion of the greenhouse for plant propagation and sustainability of various plants. Each year the program begins with a hands on presentation from Kathryn Mascaro demonstrating plant propagation. Master gardener volunteers work with the students the remainder of the year planning, planting and caring for plants to be sold at the annual spring plant sale benefiting the FFA program.

Elizabeth,
I’m a Ham.Co. MG member and I’ve placed an order for plants from the greenhouse and I’m scheduled to pick them up next Tues. I send a message to your email address in the 2019 handbook, but it failed. I was asking if you needed help with the orders or pick up process. Just let me know!
We are new MG Interns and live within 5 miles of the HSE High school. We would like to volunteer our services for this project.
Elizabeth
Would it be possible to over winter 2 rosemary plants from the children’s garden at Coxhall in the greenhouse?
Beth,
